August Mini Skincare Wishlist
It’s honestly been ages since I really treated myself to some skincare. So of course, I’ve been spending a little too long on the internet during my lunch breaks eyeing up some new picks. The problem with skin care purchases is that I’m always far too able to convince myself that I don’t just want them; I need them. After all, if they do what they say on the tin then they’re practically medicinal, right?
I did, however, put myself on a bit of a spending ban when it came to skincare. So I’ve been good. But I’m running out of things and I’ve already started researching for some bits. One of the main reasons I’ve seen a vague improvement in my deeply problematic skin in recent months is largely down to research. I’m keen to continue.
The Ordinary is a brand I absolutely love and their toner is next on my list of things to try from the brand. Their Glycolic Acid toner helps to exfoliate the skin for radiance and clarity, helping to improve skin texture with continued use. It also contains a pepper-berry derivative to help reduce irritation. I’m currently using Pixi’s Glow Tonic as one of my toners. Although I’ve loved it, I’m keen to find others that work for choice. I won’t lie, it helps that The Ordinary’s toner is over half the price of Pixi’s.
I’ve run out of my current favourite cleanser – Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash – which I did love, but again, I’m keen to add other products into the mix. My Dad, who is pretty keen on his own skin care himself, will occasionally get me bits from Clarins so thanks to him I’ve already tried this foaming wash in a sample size. Clarins is such a classic brand that you can barely go wrong with them.
I’ve been trying out Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye after they gave me a sample when I bought the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. I’ve been using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate for a while now, and I love it – but the jury is still out on the oil. The range itself is pretty awesome, and I’m especially in love with the lavender smell that comes with it. The eye cream is something I’m willing to purchase to try a little more of.
I need all the help I can get with moisture at the moment. Swiming really doesn’t help when it comes to not having dry skin! I’ve been eyeing up two Pixi products. The first is their Hydrating Milky Mist. I’ve recently run out of my Bodyshop Vitamin E mist. Mists are a new thing in my “product catalogue” but one I’m really glad I’ve tried. They’re so refreshing and really help to revitalise your skin. I’ve heard many good things about Pixis so it’s definitely next on my list.
The second Pixi product is Rose Oil Blend nourishing face oil. Again, I’ve seen some wonderful reviews and Pixi is a brand I really like. Although I’m not looking for a new oil for my night time regime, I can add this to my morning moisturiser or foundation to help boost that glow.
Finally, I’m after The Ordinary’s Natual Moisturising Factors. Natural Moisturising Factors are elements that keep the outer layer of the skin protected and well-hydrated. I think it’s going to be the perfect product to transition away from summer into winter – especially as the formula is non-greasy.
